In Turkey, Perenco undertake both strands of the Exploration strategy with activities focussed on growing the company through material discoveries and maximising the value of existing assets.
Perenco’s operated acreage in Turkey is mature from an exploration context, but the application of depth migration processing of vintage and newly acquired seismic data has identified some in-block exploration targets. A focussed programme delivered the Kirtepe South field which is now in production following discovery in 2006. Perenco believe that South East Turkey has the potential for additional material opportunities. Perenco undertook a regional description of the basin, its development and sediment fill to define the play elements and play fairways.

This exercise has allowed Perenco to focus on four separate plays that have the potential for material potential, and we are in the process of building an exploration portfolio.
Perenco Operate the Silopi group of licenses located on the Iraqi and Syrian borders in South East Turkey. Perenco completed 4900metre Silopi well in 2006, and a seismic campaign will be undertaken in 2008 that targets structures in the duplex-stack that makes up the mountain front.
Perenco have been awarded licenses AR/NTP/4368, 4369 and 4370 in District XI.
