Perenco’s Tunisian assets were acquired in July 2002. Perenco now owns 50% and operates the on-stream El Franig, Baguel, and Tarfa gas condensate Fields in Central Tunisia.

All three fields were discovered between 1981 to 1984, but were only brought on-stream in summer 1998 after an initial gas sales contract was signed. Today, the production is 23 mmscfd of gas and 2600 b/d of condensate.

El Franig and Baguel fields production is transported to the Central Processing Facility in Oum-Chiah via 150 km of pipeline. Condensate is transferred to the La Skhira terminal for export, and gas is delivered to the Gabes LPG plant for domestic consumption. The laying of a new 72 km, 10” gas pipeline from the CPF to Gabes, combined with a full scale upgrade of the processing facility and the drilling of 2 new development wells will allow Perenco’s gas exports to increase to 40 mmscfd in 2008.

Perenco is actively exploring the Takrouna permit, and a 400km 2D seismic programme has already been acquired. Evaluation of relevant data will determine a location for an exploration well.
