Gravity Survey in Northern Iraq    

As part of its ongoing exploration programme in Northern Iraq, Perenco has recently completed a month long campaign to acquire gravity data in the Sindi-Amedi Exploration License.  Despite harsh weather conditions, difficult terrain and the hazard of minefields, the team managed to successfully obtain very good quality data, which will now be used to compliment a grid of 2D seismic data acquired in 2008.   The integration of these two geophysical datasets, as well as the results of field geological mapping, will significantly improve Perenco's understanding of the subsurface structure of the Yakmalah prospect, prior to the drilling of one or more exploration wells scheduled for 2010.

 The Canadian group Excel Geophysics carried out the survey; MineTech provided mine detection services, and logistics were managed by the Perenco office in Erbil.
