In the town of Santa Clotilde, capital of the district of Napo in Loreto, President Ollanta Humala recently launched the Mobile Emergency Care System for use on the local rivers. Known by its Spanish acronym, SAMU, the system will integrate the hospital barge BAP Pastaza operated by the Peruvian Navy with the support of Perenco and the Regional Government of Loreto.
The SAMU will expand the range of mobile medical services provided today on board. It will include now an office for identity registration and the National Bank of Peru, bringing the State of Peru to the remote areas of the country. This will prevent that public workers, in particular the teachers, to have to move to Iquitos to receive their salaries, saving days of education.
Surrounded by Santa Clotilde's residents and many dignitaries, the President thanked the company for having fully committed to Peru and having a significant contribution to the communities living along the Napo, Curaray and Arabela Rivers.
The confidence placed by the Peruvian State in Perenco's activities not only strengthens its commitment to social inclusion, but also recognizes its value as a key player in Loreto's development, opening new possibilities for joint long-term work.
