Perenco is pleased to announce the start of production from the MOAB platform on the Emeraude field, Republic of Congo.

The contribution of the MOAB platform to Emeraude field production has already surpassed 1,500bopd. The initial cold production phase is expected to peak near 2,500bopd.

With nine pilot wells now on line and being closely monitored following the smooth controlled ramp-up, the successful drilling campaign has been concluded on time and within budget. The success of this phase of the project was due to the skill and tenacity of the onboard operations team, the local Geoscience team and the  Production Department based in Paris.

Perenco's ambitious development plan for the Emeraude field is continuing. The next phase consists of installing new platforms on the undeveloped, outlying areas of the reservoir and drilling additional wells. This will entail the use of up-to-date directional drilling techniques in order to optimise the drainage areas. Perenco will also be enhancing oil recovery by reducing oil viscosity through injecting steam into the reservoir.  The commissioning of the steam generation process is ongoing and first steam is expected before the year end. 

Perenco has current gross production of 18,000bopd from the Republic of Congo where it operates three offshore fields; Emeraude, Yombo and Marine IV.
