Visit of Madame Anne-Marie Idrac, French Secretary of state for Foreign Trade to Perenco's facilities in Muanda

On 9th February, 2010 the French Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, Madame Anne-Marie Idrac, visited the facilities of Perenco DRC accompanied by the French Ambassador, M. Pierre Jacquemot, and other visitors of a French delegation.

Madame Idrac was first shown the facilities from the Kitona plateau, near the Liawenda field, before visiting the Kinkasi power plant, where she was welcome by Gonzague Pecquoriaux, Perenco's field engineer in charge of the onshore production.

The visit continued in the village of Nsianfumu, where Perenco DRC runs a number of  social programmes: schools, clinic, support to the local fishermen (provision of refrigerators), and infrastructure projects including the provision of electricity, water  and roads.

Mr. Kobe, from the local fishermen's association, highlighted to the Secretary of State the strength of the relationship with Perenco DRC and how Perenco's community programme was having a positive impact on the village.

Finally, the Secretary of State visited the Perenco library, where 3 000 local inhabitants, including all the school children, have access to 10,000 books and the Internet.

The feedback following the day was extremely positive with several  members of the delegation remarking that the visit to Perenco's operations was one of the highlights of the entire  trade visit, which in addition to the DRC, included Benin and Kenya.
