Perenco holds a 60% interest in, and operates, exploration permits T/32P and T/35P in partnership with Mitsui.
These permits are located in the offshore Otway basin in SE Australia, and have a combined area of 4 253 km², in water depths ranging from 500m to 3 000m. Both permits have 3D seismic data coverage from which prospects have been defined. Significant exploration potential exists within the permits in the established play types given the geological setting.
Perenco also holds a 40% interest in AC/P45 and 40% in AC/P44 in the Browse basin of the NW shelf with the remainder held by Finder Exploration, who retain operatorship.
These blocks are highly prospective and are in an active exploration area where there have been several recent oil discoveries. There are a number of producing oil fields nearby and there have also been several multi-TCF gas discoveries.
AC/P44 and AC/P45 have a combined area of 5,000 km2, in water depths of 50-600m. The Permits have several prospects and leads over multiple play levels, with both oil and gas potential. 3D seismic data acquisition is planned for 2010, which will help define the structures and progress the prospects to drillable status.
