Northern Iraq

Perenco operates the Sindi-Amedi Exploration License which is located in the Kurdistan Autonomous Region of Northern Iraq. The license area is 2 358 km² and is located in the mountainous area adjacent to the Turkish border.

The license area has seen no previous exploration, and several 2D seismic surveys have been acquired to target large surface structures.

The first exploration well, Mateen-01, has been drilled and tested in unprecedented and challenging conditions in KRG, with operations at an altitude of 2 000 meters with up to three meters of snow. New exploration, and possibly drilling activities, are planned to assess the remaining potential of the block.
