Perenco's Tunisian assets were acquired in July 2002. Perenco now owns 50% and operates the El Franig, Baguel, and Tarfa gas condensate fields in Central Tunisia.
Today, production comprises 16 MMscfd of gas, 2 MMscfd of LPG equivalent and 700 bopd of condensates.
Production from the El Franig and Baguel fields is transported to the central processing facility in Oum-Chiah via a 120-km gas line. Condensate is transferred to the terminal for export, and gas is delivered to the Gabes plant for domestic consumption.
In 2012, Perenco validated with its Tunisian Partner ETAP and the Ministry of Energy a complementary development plan for its concessions, with significant new commitments.
On El Franig Concession: first important commitment was completed successfully in 2013 with the acquisition of a 3D seismic over 323 km². Processing of the high quality data acquired should be completed by mid-2014 allowing Perenco Tunisia to look ahead for new development and exploration wells on El Franig Concession in 2015.
On Baguel Concession, following the completion on 2013 of a 3D seismic reprocessing and interpretation, Perenco did validate with its Partner ETAP a drilling campaign of three wells to be launched in 2014. This new development will mark another major step in Perenco's investment history in the country.
