Trent and Tyne

From the early stages, the Trent and Tyne Gas Fields presented many challenges.

To reinvigorate this remote operation, Perenco  installed booster gas compression.

Budgetary constraints required that an innovative solution be deployed. Perenco managed to halve investment by devising a self-installing solution:

  • Deployment of a self-installing Mobile Offshore Application Barge (MOAB) 
  • Fully unmanned operation
  • 2 x 60 mmscfd of compressed gas driven by low-emission turbines and power-generation unit
  • Incorporation of third party gas tie-in points and risers 
  • Re-usable concept to minimise decommissioning costs

Perenco has installed a Maintenance and Living Quarters (MLQ) module to maximise operational efficiency.  This builds on the success of the innovative Mobile Offshore Application Barge (MOAB) which contains new compression packages.  Compression has increased production and unlocked reserves.

Decommissioning for Trent and Tyne in the previous operators forecast was predicted to be 2005.  Perenco has extended the forecasted lifespan of these fields to 2012 and beyond.
