Perenco production activity in Gabon began in 1992 with the acquisition of mature fields off Port-Gentil, with 8,000 barrels of oil produced daily. 26 years later, the annual average production reached 90,000 boepd and 50 million cubic feet of natural gas in 2017. This growth was supported by the continuous development of mature fields, a balanced acquisition strategy and several exploration successes.

Activities

Perenco Gabon operates oil and gas licenses both offshore and onshore. In addition to this oil and gas portfolio, there are two floating offshore storage and offloading units (FSO, Floating storage and offloading) offshore.

For over 10 years, Perenco has been providing natural gas to the power stations of Libreville and Port-Gentil. The gas is produced onshore, processed in accordance with the current specifications and delivered under pressure using a 450 km pipeline. Through a large portfolio of exploration permits, the extent of its infrastructure and very specialized know-how, Perenco is able to respond in a sustainable manner to Gabon’s growing electricity and gas needs.

In 2014–15, Perenco in Gabon financed a drilling campaign of 40 wells and many infrastructure projects, including the creation of 200 km of pipeline, the replacement of a FSO vessel, the commissioning of new offshore production platforms, the creation of a gas processing and compression unit and a water processing station.

In 2016, after more than 23 years of intense activity, Perenco Gabon moved to a new headoffice in Port-Gentil, thus stressing its sustainable commitment to the country.

In 2018, the long-standing trust relationship between the trading and institutional partners enabled the acquisition of some assets from Total Gabon. Optimising the offshore fields of Grondin and the onshore fields on Coucal/ Avocette and Atora will be possible thanks to the operational synergy with the existing facilities of Perenco Gabon, combined to the know-how of its teams.
